Valentine’s Day, also known as the day of chocolate is right around the corner. There are heart chocolates and candies being given all around as an expression of love or just letting someone know that you are thinking of them. Valentine’s Day chocolates can be given in a variety of forms.

Chocolate by itself, given or received on this day of chocolate and love is a beautiful gift. Many like to get more festive and give Valentine’s Day chocolate gifts that are in the shapes of hearts or lips as an expression of this holiday’s celebration. Just like any time of year that calls for gift giving you can go to the store and shop for your gifts or you can discover ways to make them yourself.

On the day of chocolate or love you don’t want to buy cheap Valentine’s Day chocolate, you want to treat your Valentine with all the love, honor and respect that they deserve. So why not make a Valentine gift basket and fill it with homemade sweet treats or heart chocolates to show them how much you care. If you are not the type to spend much time in the kitchen, maybe your Valentine will appreciate making them with you on this day of chocolate. Valentine’s Day chocolate gifts are almost always well received and appreciated unless your loved one has a chocolate allergy or is trying to stay away from sugar and dairy. Not to fret, below we have a Raw Chocolate recipe that even they can enjoy.

You can take any chocolate recipe and turn them into heart chocolates by using heart chocolate molds. When it comes to making chocolates on this day of chocolate, you have a few options on what type of chocolate to make. Here are the main two options we suggest:

1. EASY TRADITIONAL CHOCOLATE
All you need is a double boiler and some semisweet chocolate chips or maybe another chocolate of your choice. You can simply melt it down and then use it to make all different types of heart chocolates and treats using molds. Once it’s all melted, pour the chocolate into molds, and then place them into the refrigerator or freezer to harden up the chocolate. You can reference some of the recipes we have listed below for more ideas.

2. RAW CHOCOLATE
This type of chocolate may take a little more effort but what’s nice about it is that you can tailor it to your liking. And if you are giving this chocolate to someone with diabetes or who has dietary limitations you can make the recipe for your chocolate work for them. Here is a simple, easy RAW chocolate recipe:

Ingredients:
1 cup coconut oil or cacao butter
2-3 tablespoons raw honey or 1 tablespoon raw agave
1 cup raw cacao powder
Directions:
Put the ingredients above in a double boiler and melt it all down. Once melted pour the chocolate into heart molds to make heart chocolates, and then place in the refrigerator or freezer until it hardens.

You can also use the raw chocolate instead for the recipes below that call for chocolate.

When making Valentine’s Day chocolate it’s best to use the type of chocolate that not only your Valentine is going to prefer, but that also supports their health commitments.
